MARKET UPDATE NUTMEG
“Current weather conditions in Siau, Tagulandang, Sangihe, and Talaud islands signal the onset of the rainy season, impacting the nutmeg harvest. Anticipate a significant harvest by late December or early January, though heavy rains and winds may cause premature nutmeg falling, affecting availability. Drying processes might be prolonged due to reduced sunlight, leading to potential quality risks like aflatoxin due to high humidity. Exercise caution in purchases during these months. Buying prices for nutmeg at the farm level have decreased compared to the prior month, paralleling the decline in mace demand from India.
Stronger currency and lower quality will offset a lower buying price. Our procurement strategy involves stock from pre rainy season to ensure the highest quality. To align with market dynamics, we've scaled down raw material purchases."
